Ferns (Pteridophyta) are very important members of the plant kingdom that lag behind other taxa with regards to our understanding of their genetics, genomics, and molecular biology. We report here, to our knowledge, the first instance of stable transformation of fern with recovery of transgenic sporophytes. ISBN: OCLC Number: Notes: Cover title. Description: pages [] illustrations ; 25 cm. Contents: 1. The climate, geology, and vegetation of Trinidad with particular reference to the ecology of ferns The cytology and taxonomic implications Descriptions of new species and hybrids and a new combination.

A cytotaxonomic study was made of 90 fern species of Yunnan, southwestern China, based on collections from northwestern, central, and southwestern Yunnan and a few Cheng's collections.

The results verified most of the formerly reported basic chromosome numbers of Chinese genera, and recorded for the first time the basic numbers ofGymnogrammitis andSorolepidium and Cited by: A cytotaxonomic study of ferns from Fujian Province, China, was carried out. The reproductive modes of 31 species in 18 genera were examined using a conventional method.

A 'read' is counted each time someone views a publication summary (such as the title, abstract, and list of authors), clicks on a figure, or views or downloads the full-text. This study concerns the cytotaxonomic investigations on twelve species belonging to three sections from the genus Vicia in Iran.

A taxonomic background of the genus is given in brief. The previous counts reported for the genus in Index to plant chromosome number are summarized.

In addition to one new count, the chromosome numbers of four species are reported for the first time. Mimosa pudica (from Latin: pudica "shy, bashful or shrinking"; also called sensitive plant, sleepy plant, action plant, Dormilones, touch-me-not, shameplant, zombie plant, shy lady or shy plant) is a creeping annual or perennial flowering plant of the pea/legume family Fabaceae and Magnoliopsida taxon, often grown for its curiosity value: the compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched.

Unraveling the complexities of the genetic composition of ferns and lycophytes began with the work of Andersson‐Kottö (, ), who conducted classical genetic crossing studies on ferns during the results demonstrated that for the most part, ferns followed diploid models of inheritance.

Large to very large, less often medium-sized, terrestrial ferns with short to usually long, erect, slender to robust, apically scaly stem; stele radially symmetric, forming a complicated dictyostele with much sclerenchyma on both sides of the bundles, often with accessory medullary and cortical bundles; the surface often bearing a cover of densely matted adventitious roots, rarely.

There is a possibility that the species may spread out to other areas if opportunity and favourable condition occur. Several studies have been carriedout to understand the Neo-endemics. On the basis of cytotaxonomic studies in Favarger and Contandriopoulos () differentiated into three types of neo-endemics.

version. Even though genetic aspects of some cichlids have been widely studied over the last decades, little is known about the genomic structure of Cichlidae when compared to the large number of species in the family. In this paper, the first chromosomal data for Cichlasoma sanctifranciscense Kullander, are presented and discussed based on cytotaxonomic and karyoevolutionary inferences on.Cytogenetics.

Chromosome analysis is a labor-intensive endeavor that requires the culture of cells, the arrest of the mitotic cell cycle in the metaphase stage, and special staining, which bands each chromosome so that chromosome pairs can be distinguished from one another.6.

After 45 days, transfer the ferns to fresh media. To increase the number of plants, transfer to Stage II media. To root the ferns and prepare them for transferring to soil, use Stage III media. 7. Cultures in Stage II should be transferred to fresh media every 30 days.
